Simple Morning Routine for the Work at Home Woman

Time can be elusive, especially when working at home. It can be hard to focus when your work shares a space with kids, pets, chores and your own wandering mind. This is why it’s so important to have, and keep, a daily routine when you work at home. A morning routine is especially important because it’s so easy to just go back to sleep or get side-tracked before you even get started with work for the day.

Here are some tips to be a productive Work at Home Woman every day:

Wake Up Early

Working at home can make it difficult to get out of bed in the morning. You may just think, as I often do, that you can sleep just a little longer and get your work done a little later. Oh, but then you wake up two hours later. *GROAN*

Don’t make this mistake. It’s vital to a productive day that you get up and moving as soon as possible.

Actually Get Ready for the Day

Real talk: I write this while sitting here in my pajamas in the very late morning. So, I won’t exactly preach on this point, however, don’t you feel like you can conquer the world when your teeth are brushed and you’re wearing actual clothes? (P.S. No one said anything about a bra…)

Eat a Healthy Breakfast, then Clean up the Kitchen

I am really bad about eating breakfast. I’m kind of a ‘coffee and go’ type of girl. But there is something to be said for actual breakfast food. It gives you longer lasting energy than coffee, keeps your metabolism going (remember that you sit at a desk all day), and it just gives you a few moments of peace in the morning instead of jumping right into work.

After eating, empty and re-load the dishwasher. It’s a simple thing you can do to keep your day hassle-free. Just start it up after dinner, and you’ll be set for another productive day tomorrow!

Do Some Laundry

Generally speaking, I only do laundry once a week. However, my household consists of just my husband and myself. If you have kids, or just like clean towels every single day, throw in a load of laundry before you start working. You’ll feel so accomplished before your day even starts!

Take Breaks!!

I cannot stress enough how important it is to take breaks throughout the day. Don’t get so caught up in your work that you forget to go get a drink of water, or just switch your internet browser over to watch 20 minutes of Netflix.

Studies have shown that NAPPING actually INCREASES productivity! So, you know, you’re napping to get more done!

Oh, and don’t forget to finish that load of laundry. 😉

And the most important part: COFFEE!

Well, it’s important to me anyways… I have a Nespresso machine, which brews perfect espresso, from a single-use, no mess, recyclable capsule. So, I make myself a fancy latte every morning while I start my day. Believe me when I say it’s magical.
